Montreal Canada Day 2027 — Celebrating Unity, Diversity and Canadian Heritage

An initiative of One World One Humanity, founded by Jimmy Chan

Montreal is a city built on cultures, traditions, and communities from around the world.

On Canada Day, we come together to celebrate not only the country we call home, but the people, stories, and shared values that make Canada extraordinary.

Through One World One Humanity, founded by Montreal community leader Jimmy Chan, we champion a vision of Canada Day that welcomes every generation, every culture, and every community.

Together, we celebrate our heritage. Together, we celebrate our diversity. Together, we celebrate Canada.

Our vision for Canada Day 2027

A Celebration That Brings Everyone Together

Canada Day is more than a date on the calendar. It is an opportunity to celebrate the communities, cultures, and generations that have shaped our country.

Montreal's Canada Day Parade has long represented the city's multicultural spirit, bringing families, performers, community organizations, and Canadians of diverse backgrounds together in celebration.

In recent years, the traditional downtown parade has been absent. It was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic, returned in 2023, and was cancelled again in 2024 and 2025. Its organizer cited permit and funding difficulties, red tape, roadwork on Sainte-Catherine Street, strained relations with city departments and municipal worker strikes. The City of Montreal stated that no project application had been submitted.

Jimmy Chan is now actively working with other community leaders to bring back Montreal's Canada Day Parade, so that families, cultural communities and performers can once again march together on July 1.

As Montreal looks toward July 1, 2027, One World One Humanity and its founder Jimmy Chan — who has gathered Montreal's Chinese community for the Canada Day Parade since the 1980s — are championing a renewed spirit of participation, collaboration, and cultural pride.

Our vision is a welcoming celebration where traditional performances, music, dance, community organizations, and people from every background come together to share their heritage and celebrate their Canadian identity.

“Canada's greatest strength is not that we are all the same, but that we can stand together while celebrating what makes each community unique.”

Our community legacy

Decades of Bringing Communities Together

Since the 1980s, Jimmy Chan has gathered Montreal's Chinese community — lion dancers, dragon dancers, drummers, associations and families — to march together in the Canada Day Parade. Today he is working with other community leaders to bring the parade back.

A message from our founder

A Shared Home. A Shared Future.

Canada is our home, and our diversity is one of our greatest strengths.

For generations, people from around the world have come to this country with their hopes, dreams, cultures, and traditions. Together, we have built communities where those traditions can be shared, respected, and celebrated.

Canada Day is an opportunity to come together as neighbours, friends, families, and proud Canadians.

I believe that when we celebrate one another's cultures, we build stronger communities and a stronger Canada.

My hope is to see more families, more young people, more cultural organizations, and more new Canadians take part in these celebrations.

Let us continue building bridges between communities and creating a future where everyone belongs.
